J M's Story

I cannot express enough how wonderful working with Dr Adickes has been. I am 7 months out and 6 weeks out with total knee replacements done by him and I couldn't be happier. He and his staff take time to listen to you and work together to come up with a treatment plan. He is personable, extremely knowledgeable, and you can tell he loves what he does. To top it off, he speaks from experience, having undergone a full knee replacement himself. I am more than happy to recommend Dr Adickes should you need orthopedic care, specifically for the knees.

I could not have asked for a better trained or knowledgeable surgeon than Dr Mark Addicks.

My daughter had her knee dislocate for the first time when she was 12 years old. She had surgery to tighten the ligaments but her knee continued to slide out of place often causing her to fall. She lived with an unstable knee for 8 years and had her knee partially slide out of place dozens of times. Dr Adickes recommended surgery to realign her knee which was slightly off center. Dr Adickes performed the realignment surgery and her knee has been great ever since. She had a goal of running a half marathon but prior to surgery that was not possible. A year after surgery she ran her first half marathon. Two years post surgery she completed her first full marathon. She has continued to run half and full marathons, all without her knee sliding out of place or causing her any pain. Dr Adickes improved the quality of her life substantially. Her only regret is not having the surgery sooner. I highly recommend Dr Adickes.

My left knee replacement was on May 14, 2020. I am 58 yrs. old and now feel like I am 38 yrs. old. Recovery has been good, after 4 weeks I was able to walk. I am thinking about the right knee to be done sooner than expected. Dr. Adickes and his team were fantastic. Already feeling great progress. I highly recommend him! 5 stars and more in my book.

Had a TKA 11/2019. Had popliteus tendon pain from the outset, worsening for 15 months. Original surgeon on the case would not agree to addressing it arthroscopically. Dr A. immediately responded to my inquiry. Had procedure and achieved complete relief! I am not taking any meds for pain.

In May 2018, I had right shoulder surgery that was preformed by Dr. Steven E. Flores with UT Physicians. He did a horrible job. Dr. Flores left me with an arm I could not even lift. My arm was useless. I decided to go to Dr. Mark Adickes. I am so glad I found him! After reviewing my MRIs, Dr. Adickes explained the next steps, answered all of my questions, he was very sympathetic to what I was going through, and he made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. In March 2019, Dr. Adickes fixed my botched right shoulder surgery and I'm almost 100% back to normal...just a few more weeks of physical therapy! I highly recommend Dr. Mark Adickes. He's not only an excellent surgeon, but he's a great person!

Dr. Adickes performed bilateral hip labrum repairs on me this December and February. He is one of the most competent doctors I have ever worked with and am grateful I had the opportunity for him to perform the surgeries on me. Of course, he is also my top choice to fix my two torn rotator cuffs as well - he is skilled in many major joints! I'm back to running and would recommend him to anyone - near or far!

I am doing remarkably well from torn labral repair by Dr.Adickes. He is worth the wait in the waiting room and exam room. He takes a lot of time with patients instead of a $50 handshake. He is very friendly and comfortable to talk to as well as his staff. My only regret is that he didn't do my torn rotator cuff repair two years ago which I am still having problems with. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Adickes is such a super guy! His staff is excellent and very personable. He made me feel very confident in him (redoing a surgery a doctor previously screwed up). Everything was explained so I could understand. Super glad I went to Dr. Adickes!

I have seen Dr. Adickes multiple times. Some of them were easy things to discover such as a fractured tibial plateau that I had. Being that he is a former football player and avid weight lifter he understands sports injuries very well. All that is to be expected by any orthopedic doctor. However here is where he exceeds the rest. I was having a horrible shocking pain in my right forearm however only when I raised my arm above my shoulder. Nobody else could figure it out. He did all the normal tests and tried an injection in my shoulder and said I was flopping like a fish even afterwards on the table when he manipulated my arm which doesn't happen to anyone. He went back and researched what else it could be. He came back and told me he thought it was a Posterior Interosseous Nerve Entrapment. The MRI didn't even show it yet he had concluded it was the likeliest option. Mind you he doesn't do that part of the body yet he took the time to solve my problem on his own time. He then referred me to another great doctor that does forearms. Dr. Koepplinger. Dr. K, said that it wasn't showing on the MRI and we tried therapy and other things. After nothing else worked he and I agreed to basically go in and look at my forearm where as Dr. Adickes had suspected was entrapped. After the surgery I was back to normal after I had lost the ability to hold a fork with stability and eat with my right hand. Dr. Adickes saved my nerve from permanent damage in an area that wasn't even his specialty. He said he had remembered something all the way from medical school which made him think of where to look. I am used to Dr.'s giving up and sending you to the next one and next one and next one. He first took the time to really research what he thought it was before sending me on to the next person.

Dr. Adickes performed surgery to fix my torn labrum and also did a bicep tenodesis. He is best in class and by far the best doctor I've had in terms of bed side manner. Much better vs. pre surgery and i'm glad I did it.

Dr. Adickes is the best. Would recommend to anyone. Bedside manner is impeccable and his medical staff are very friendly and polite. Please note, there will be a wait time so add an extra 30 to 45 minutes to your overall timeframe. Again, well worth it as you are dealing with one of the best in the world.

I had a consultation with him yesterday, it was a good experience, the staff was friendly, my wait time was minimal and I was out in less than an hour, Baylor seems to have it together better than some of the other Med Center units, Dr Addicks was great, direct and I was pleased with the outcome

He reconstructed my ACL in 2007 and I have never had my knee feel better. Right now he is treating me very conservatively for a meniscus tear which is thoroughly appreciated.
I cannot adequately express what an incredible person he is. Suffice it to say, anyone would be fortunate to have Dr. Adickes as their doctor. I am incredibly fortunate.
